Pēlikel – from French word ‘pellicule’, or “film strip” – is an independent progressive rock band from Beirut, Lebanon.

Joey Semaan (guitar/vocals/keys), his brother Kevin Semaan (bass/backing vocals/keys), Roy Andraos (guitar), and Mark Bitar (drums), debuted in 2019 under that name after years of looking for their true, authentic sound and identity.

All four members, having a broad variety of different influences, create an odd and distinctive musical style that falls under the umbrella of prog rock music. Inspired by bands like Porcupine Tree, The Pineapple Thief, Pink Floyd, and many others, Pēlikel narrates their stories with a rollercoaster of emotions, from dreamy, airy, vocal sequences to heavy riffs.

About the album

Two debut singles – ‘The Sun’ and ‘Shambles in the Optic Nerve’ – were released in anticipation of their debut album ‘Shambles’, out August 24, 2021. A 45-minute musical voyage around themes of societal disorder and malfunctioning, of loss and lies, while pondering the bitter flaws found in our relationships with ourselves and others. The record consists of eight tracks, each telling a story dissecting a different part of this world in shambles in order to, hopefully, better understand it.
