Alissar Quartet is a music ensemble originating from the Palestinian refugee camp of Bourj el Shemali in South Lebanon. Dima Bakkar (19), Alice Khachan (18) and Lina Khachan (14) grew up learning music in Beit Atfal Assomoud's music program in the camp, eventually becoming instructors. In 2016 they met Norwegian violinist Inger Hannisdal at the Tyre International Music Festival, and together they formed Alissar Quartet. The ensemble - named after the ancient queen of Tyre - play classical music, folk songs from around the world, Palestinian songs and other Arabic and European music.
