“Aswad” Dance performance

Woven out of darkness, Aswad is about stepping into the light. It’s a story about conflicts in relationships but also about the hope of redemption and revelation.
The work is a tribute to the human ability to overcome adversity and find strength.

The performance is preceded by two screenings:
1- “Making Movement“
Synopsis: This short documentary follows the creative process of Beirut Contemporary Ballet artistic directors Jana Younes and Jens Bjerregaard during the final days of rehearsal as they recreate their repertoire piece Bodies of Water with the Ballet Contemporáneo de Camagüey, Cuba.

2- “One for the dreamers”
Synopsis: In a machine-like arena where hopelessness and monotony reign, everyone is in a routine that requires a relentless push.
Amidst this desperation, there is, in some, a longing to a world outside the ring, a world for travelers and bearers of dreams.
