“Oud Without Borders” is a trio project led by Samir Nasr Eddine that places the oud at the heart of a rich, borderless sonic landscape. Joined by guitar and percussion, this ensemble explores the oud’s full expressive range — not only as a bearer of deep-rooted Arabic musical traditions, but as a dynamic voice capable of dialogue with jazz, flamenco, and other global styles.
This project is born from the belief that music transcends geography. In “Oud Without Borders,” the oud sings in many languages: it improvises with jazz freedom, dances with flamenco rhythms, and meditates within modal traditions, all while staying grounded in its ancestral roots. The interplay between the three instruments allows for a fluid and intimate conversation, where tradition meets innovation and East flows into West. Through this trio, the oud is not confined to any single identity,, instead, it travels, adapts, and evolves, echoing the diverse stories of the cultures it encounters.
