Calamita is the « rock » trio of Sehnaoui and Tony Elieh, two of the most active musicians on the Lebanese experimental scene that revolves around “Irtijal”, a yearly international festival that has been held in Beirut for nearly 20 years. While Sehnaouicomes from a jazz and improv music background, working with Mazen Kerbaj and Raed Yassin in the “A” Trio to develop a music they sometimes refer to as “textural swing”, Elieh & drummer Malek Rizkallah are originally rock musicians, members of the Lebanese post-punk band The Scrambled Eggs whose work in the last decade has covered many directions from pop-rock to plain experimental.
Sary Moussa is a sound designer, producer and engineer active in the Beirut experimental and underground scene since 2008. His work ranges from drone driven music to dance floor electronica with a focus on sound design and sonic textures. In addition to his solo work, Moussa has also composed music for theater and dance performances, films and installations. He released his first full-length album Issrar (2014 on Ruptured) under the moniker radiokvm and his latest record Imbalance (Other People – 2020 on Other People) as Sary Moussa.
Based in Beirut, Abed Kobeissy has been producing music for solo projects and collaborations, including music composition for film, theatre, and dance. His work holds a local identity that is unapologetically rooted in its present, relying on urban soundscapes as a reference for aesthetic and emotionality.
His electro-acoustic duo Two or The Dragon with percussionist Ali Hout released 2 albums; “Prelude For The Triumphant Man” (2017 on Nawa), and “Dance Grooves For The Weary” (2021 on Ruptured). The duo is about to release their 3rd album, featuring Hala Omran, in Summer 2024. He also co-founded the Lebanese-German beat-noise quartet Stellar Banger alongside Ali Hout, Joss Turnbull, and Pablo Giw, and released their album “Data Is” (2021 on Ruptured).
He holds a M.A.S on the semiotics of music in Arabic cinema, and has taught as a lecturer at the Lebanese American University in Beirut.
