Once it settles into homes and routines, music quietly becomes part of everyday life. Around that, homes develop their own audio systems and the habits around them. It’s not only the speakers, players or setups that stick, it’s the music that finds its place with us, stays in rotation, fills the rooms, hosts friends, and accompanies us.
Domestic Audio Systems invites artists to open up theirs, sharing selections from their own collections and another side of their musical world outside their usual performances. From records, tapes, CDs, files, and everything in between, the music they return to, play for themselves, makes them move, and that has earned a lasting place in their personal systems.
Metro will shift accordingly on that night, rearranged into a more familiar setting where we move from discoveries and close attention into movement and dance. A space where the distance between selector, sound system, and room becomes more intimate than usual.
Gathering around shared collections and open ears, music that feels just as at home on a dance floor as it does everywhere else.
