Warehouse Tapes is an ongoing dig through the archive of the early rave continuum, each edition exploring a different chapter in the story of 90s dance music, taking a look at where today’s sounds come from.
For this one, we’re so happy to have SAUD back from Belgrade for another round. A local favorite by now, he will be joined alongside the heavy hitters in Rubbishhh, Yasmeen and junior, each bringing their interpretations of this period and the many paths that grew from that fertile ground.
Opening another tape with each edition, we go back through the sounds that moved through warehouses, radio and dubbed cassettes before the internet was a thing, leaning into overlooked cuts, timeless classics, and a lot of what was inspired by this.
This second tape moves into the years when the techno, acid house, breakbeat and other influences of the time began mingling, and dance was pushed into even stranger, harder or faster territory.
Whether revisiting such records or discovering them for the first time, these tunes share the moments when the codes of the dance floor were being rewritten in real time.
